Merry Christmas, Readers!
Whatever comes to pass, I hope you all know, if nothing else, you aren’t alone in your hopes, dreams, fears, nor worries.
I hadn’t planned on doing any writing today, be it working on drafts or publishing something. But I’d feel remiss if I didn’t take a moment to wish you a happy Christmas and thanked you all for your readership.
This Substack has done a lot of growing over the last year. As I’ve said before, holding a captive audience isn’t an entitlement. It’s a privilege I need to maintain with every piece that I put out. Every time I hit that “send to everyone now” button, I can’t help but briefly wonder if this will gain me or lose subscribers. On the net, I’ve gained, so I thank you for joining me on this fantastic voyage and, more important, for staying on the ride!
Looking back over the last two years (already!), I’m struck by how much I’ve had to say. It makes me wonder if there’s going to come a day when there’s nothing more to say. Given what 2024 holds in store, I’d say that day, if it ever were to come, is a long time from now. If there’s any end we can’t see from here, it’s that moment where we run out of things to talk about.
Whatever comes to pass, I hope you all know, if nothing else, you aren’t alone in your hopes, dreams, fears, nor worries. We’re all in this together. You’re here because you, like me, care about what happens to our home and native land. Things like Christmas were meant for people like you and I. I hope you all have a wonderful time today and through the New Year.
Merry Christmas from my family to you and yours.
